First Day of Christmas

I have plans for two kinds of posts to post each of the 12 days of Christmas. I had some ideas to post last year but our computer was down over the 12 days of Christmas. I hope that I'm not taking on too big of a project to post two items for the next 12 days. We'll see how I do. Thanks to my dad for many years of doing the Christmas Quiz in Bible classes to give me ideas on what to post here.

Christmas Quiz part 1-How well do you know the Biblical Christmas Story?
Using the Bible accounts in Matthew 1:18-25, Matthew 2:1-21, Luke 1:5-80, Luke 2:1-39, and John 1:14; which of the following are mentioned in the Biblical Christmas story? Check back tomorrow for answers.
(I would recommend reading the Bible verses listed here before answering. Perhaps make a list of the ones that ARE in the Bible story so you can compare it to the answers tomorrow. If you are really ambitious you can put the Bible reference next to your answers!)

Mary's parents
swaddling cloths
funeral perfume (myrrh)
false worship (someone doing this even if these exact words are not used)
evangelism (someone doing this even if these exact words are not used)
blessedness of faith

How many Magi came to see Jesus?
What sort of transportation did the Magi use?
How did Mary almost surely travel to Bethlehem?

Our Christmas Ornaments-Part 1
Some of the blogs I read post photos of their favorite Christmas ornaments for the first 25 days of December. I would love to do that, but we didn't put our tree up until December 23, so the ornaments were still packed away then. I'm going to post photos of some of our favorite Christmas ornaments for the 12 days of Christmas.
The first ornaments I'm going to post are these silver bells.

I know it is difficult to see in this photo, but I have bells for these years-
2000-Ram and Ewe engaged
2001-Ram and Ewe married
2004-Lamb 1 born
2005-Baby 1 miscarriage
2006-Lamb 2 born
2008-Lamb 3 born
2009-Baby 2 miscarriage
2010-Baby 3 miscarriage
Ram's mom started my collection when we were engaged. I made it clear to her that I only wanted bells the years that were significant to our family. Last year I decided to purchase a 2009 one for baby 2. We continued the tradition by getting one this year for baby 3. A few weeks ago I realized we never got one for baby 1. I know this is hard to believe, but I have never purchased anything on E-bay. I actually still haven't bid on E-bay, because we bought the 2005 one under a "buy it now" transaction. I like having a memory of our three Lambs in heaven. The Lambs enjoy putting the bell from their birth year on the tree. I like that the bells actually ring, although when all the Lambs ring one it gets quite loud. I suppose they could get dented, but they are pretty safe for the Lambs to not break them. Of course the oldest ones are the most tarnished and I'm not polishing them just for putting on the tree for 12 days. With 8 of them, they can be spread out over the tree.

I just did the quiz based on what I remember without reading the Bible passages. Now I'll read them and see how I do. I have 5 items from the list and I think I got the other 3 Qs correct.

okay - so I read the passages. Didn't realize that Zechariah's song, Mary's song, and Jesus' presentation at the temple were included. I realized I missed one when I was reading it to Matt. Then after reading I found 3 more. One other might be - just depends how you interpret your meaning.

Guess I'll find out tomorrow!

Love the bells idea and including your sweet babies in heaven. Our church sells snowflake ornaments In Memory of and In Honor of people to benefit the Altar Guild - I bought 3 in memory of our 2 miscarried babies and our daughter we were adopting who died in her orphanage. It is such a special thing to have on the tree.

We too have a Christmas ornament in remembrance of our miscarriage. It's nice to have something to remind us of our other child(ren).
